Most common printer problems

Printer won’t connect to WiFi — The most common cause is the printer losing its IP address after a router restart. The fix is the same across all brands: print a network configuration page from the printer’s control panel, confirm the WiFi network name matches your current router, then run the wireless setup wizard again from the printer menu.

Printer shows offline — Windows marks a printer as Offline when it cannot communicate with the printer over the network. This usually means the printer’s IP address changed. Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners → find your printer → Printer properties → Ports tab, and update the IP address to match what appears on the printer’s network configuration page.

Paper jam with no paper inside — A “paper jam” error with no visible paper means a small torn piece is stuck inside the paper path, or a sensor is stuck. Turn the printer off, remove the paper tray, and look inside with a flashlight. Clear any fragments before restarting.
